Online Supervised Calls

Online Supervised Contact is a new service offered by the TCCC where face to face contact is unable to be facilitated.

It is conducted in a private room using Zoom. This room has a large screen on the wall with a camera and speaker attached to ensure clear vision and sound. There is comfortable furniture as well as a play area for younger children. This room is separate to any other rooms where visits are occurring to keep any distractions to a minimum.

Staff will be attendance monitoring conversations that occur during these calls and supporting play activities for younger children. For older children staff will monitor calls and intervene where support is required or if interactions are inappropriate. For younger children, where direct communication can often be problematic, a play area will be set up and parents will be able to interact with their child while the child is engaged in play. This play may be supported by staff. For example a parent would be able to talk to their child while the child is drawing a picture or while the child is building blocks.

These contacts are a maximum of 30 minutes in duration and parents are required to meet the Centre Guidelines during these sessions. Prior to any services being offered both parents need to complete an intake at this Centre where the Guidelines to supervision will be reviewed.

Children need to be able to independently interact with a parent and this service would not be suitable for very young children unless they are part of a sibling group with older children in attendance.
