Toowoomba Children's Contact Centre (TCCC) was established based on the belief that all children have the right to have contact with both parents in a low stress, non violent environment. The TCCC was established to help meet that need. The Centre is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. The TCCC aims to provide an impartial place at contact time for changeover (i.e. picking up and dropping off children), and supervised contact visits where necessary or court appointed (i.e. a Family Supprt Worker stays with the family for the whole visit to ensure the children are comfortable with the visit) for short periods of time. TCCC works with the family court and families to encourage positive interaction between children and their parents, and to support the strengthening of these relationships. Where possible and over time, parents are encouraged to move to self-management of their arrangements for spending time with the child/ren. Toowoomba Children's Contact Centre is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children of separated families can spend time with one or both parents and sometimes other family members. It is a child-centered environment that provides various activities, toys, games and facilities that reflect the diverse needs of children affected by family breakdown. |
