If you are co-parenting your child or children, changeovers provide a safe, supportive and non-threatening environment which allows children to develop and maintain relationships and contact with both parents. Changeover (also referred to as handover) is the time your child or children move between homes for the night, the weekend, a full week, or even longer during a holiday period.

This Centre has two street access points and each parent is allocated a street car parking area and entrance to use when attending the Centre. This ensures that parents do not have any contact at the Centre when changeovers are occurring.

Parents can self-refer and do not require a Court Order or Parenting Agreement to use the Centre. However both parents need to agree to the times and dates of contact and TCCC cannot be involved in these negotiations.

Staff will facilitate changeovers by supporting, encouraging and accompanying children from one parent to another at the agreed time. It is important to be aware that staff cannot force children to attend contact changeovers and that it is the parents responsibility to support and encourage their children to transfer through to the other parent. It is a requirement of the service that parents are willing to encourage and support their children when attending for changeovers. If a parent is unwilling to support their children attending contact they cannot be offered a place at the service.
